Sunderland City Centre

The masterplan for Riverside Sunderland sets out the strategy for revitalising and reinventing Sunderland city centre by creating an exciting and beautiful new urban quarter.

Cowen+Partners delivered the masterplan for Farringdon Row, an intrinsic part of the development of Riverside, Sunderland, which will regenerate, restore and re-purpose a large tract of degraded former industrial land on the north side of the city centre.

Acting as the catalyst for renewal in the wider city centre, Farringdon Row will strengthen the inner urban area, including connections between the university campuses, and links to the coast and communities. A new local square will be framed by development, generating a sense of place and identity, vital to providing an area to meet, play and celebrate together and creating a sense of community.
