Architect of the Year Awards 2020

Jo Cowen has been nominated as Architectural Leader of the Year for 2020 due to the practices contribution to the architecture in London and the UK. This is more than an award for the leader but represents the contribution to the built environment of the whole practice. The team at Jo Cowen Architects has made significant strides in high quality residential work, focussed on people, placemaking and homes for all. This year, the practice will have led the allocation of 10000 new homes in Worcester Parkway, started work on Eddington with the University of Cambridge, submitted planning for a residential placemaking led scheme for Berkeley Homes and TFL and forged a new methodology in bespoke Modular Homes with ILKE.

The practice has completed its 200th domestic home for end user clients, as well as brought forward 2500 Build-to-rent Apartments and houses across the UK. Jo Cowen remains committed to diversity in the practice and the wider spectrum of real estate with a specific interest in encouraging students from all socio-economic background to enter the profession. Our mantra as a practice is that Culture Trumps Strategy, and to be a leader, you need a team who believe in excellence not just for their clients but for the people who will live and use our buildings.
