Planning Consent Secured for Modern Wharf
Planning consent has been secured from the London Borough of Greenwich for Morden Wharf – a vibrant new riverside neighbourhood that will deliver 1500 much-needed homes alongside retail, community and commercial spaces, all set within a generous new public park.
Occupying a pivotal 13.8-acre site where East Greenwich meets the evolving Greenwich Peninsula, the masterplan reimagines a former industrial landscape into a connected and sustainable urban quarter. Appointed by Galliard Homes and City Developments Limited (CDL) in 2024, Cowen+Partners have led the design of a riverside vision that will deliver circa 1,500 homes, including a diverse mix of tenures, within a richly landscaped setting close to the O2.
Morden Wharf represents a rare opportunity to shape an iconic London place — establishing a new benchmark for high-quality, mixed-use development that brings together living, working and leisure. At its heart, the scheme is conceived as a multi-generational neighbourhood, designed to foster community, inclusivity and long-term resilience.
With special thanks to the GLA for supporting the scheme through targeted measures to accelerate delivery — allowing us to deliver 20% affordable housing. We also extend our thanks to the wider consultant team for their exceptional collaboration, officers at the Royal Borough of Greenwich, and the counsillors who have championed the proposals. We are grateful for the constructive engagement with the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site Administration, whose input has been invaluable throughout the process.
We look forward to seeing Morden Wharf evolve into a distinctive and enduring part of Greenwich’s urban fabric.
